Arrival instructions

Arriving at Puerto Vallarta Airport

One hall stands between you and your driver, and it is worth knowing what it is.

Puerto Vallarta International Airport

Arrival instructions, step by step

Puerto Vallarta has the most persistent timeshare hall in Mexico, and knowing that before you land is half the battle.

  1. Immigration

Have your passport and hotel name ready. PVR is efficient; the slow window is late morning when the Canadian and US flights arrive together.

  2. Baggage reclaim and customs

Collect your bags and press the customs button. Green and you walk on, red and your bag goes through the scanner.

  3. The timeshare hall

This is the one to know about. After customs you walk through a corridor of desks in airline-style uniforms. They will tell you they are “airport information”, ask for your hotel and offer a free lift. They sell timeshare presentations. Some will say your driver is waiting at their booth. They are not.

  4. Keep walking and go outside

Cross the arrivals hall and go out the doors. Nobody inside the building is your driver.

  5. Cross to the pick-up lane

The pick-up lane is across a small road from the terminal, under the covered walkway. This is where authorised transport waits.

  6. Find the name board

Your driver holds an eTransfers name board at the lane, not inside. Photo and number plate are in MyTrip before you land.

How to recognise your driver

  • Name and photoSent by WhatsApp the evening before, with the vehicle’s number plate.
  • The eTransfers name boardBlue board, white logo, your name in large letters.
  • Uniform and vehicleNavy polo shirt with the logo. The vehicle model and number plate match your message.
  • Live locationAsk IAN and we’ll send the driver’s live location while you walk out.

Avoid the timeshare hall and pirate taxis

The “airport information” desks

They are not airport staff and they are not information. They are timeshare sales, and the free lift costs you a ninety-minute presentation. Say no thanks and keep walking.

“Your driver is waiting over here”

Nobody inside the terminal is your driver. Ours wait outside, across the pick-up lane, holding an eTransfers name board.

The pirates are outside because they cannot get in

To pick up inside PVR, GAP — the group that runs the airport — requires each vehicle’s registration, carrying the federal number plates and the SICT permit, plus current insurance and several other requirements. Whoever cannot meet them waits outside the perimeter, with no passenger insurance and a price that changes halfway.

Verify photo and number plate

Driver name, photo and number plate are in MyTrip before you land. If they do not match, do not get in.

What happens if your flight moves

  • We track your flight numberFrom the moment you book. If the flight is retimed, we move the pick-up before you land.
  • The driver waits, at no chargeSixty minutes after landing on international flights, thirty on domestic. Immigration queues never count against you.
  • If you miss the flight altogetherSend us the new flight number. With Premium, changing the date or the time is free up to 12 hours before the original pick-up; with Economy it is your one included change, with 24 hours’ notice. Outside those windows, we move it subject to availability.

Puerto Vallarta Airport transfer questions

What is the hall of desks after customs?
Timeshare sales. They will look official, ask for your hotel name and offer a free lift or a free tour. Say no thanks and keep walking; your driver is outside, across the pick-up lane.
Where exactly does my driver wait?
Outside the terminal, across the small road, at the covered pick-up lane. Authorised transport cannot wait inside the building.
How far is Nuevo Vallarta? And Punta Mita?
Nuevo Vallarta is about 20 minutes, Bucerias 30, Punta Mita and Sayulita about an hour.
Is there a toll on the way?
No. Nobody should ask you for cash for tolls between the airport and any hotel in the bay.
Terminal A or B?
A is domestic, B is international. Both arrive into the same hall, so the walk out is the same.
Do you provide child seats?
Yes, free. Choose them at checkout and they are installed before you land.
