A calm airport. The friction here is about money, not safety.
It has been included in airline tickets for years. If anyone at the airport asks you for US$10 for a tourist card, it is not official.
Tipping is normal and expected, but agree it is a tip and not a fee. Two or three dollars covers it.
You can pay in dollars all over the resort zone, but change comes back in pesos at a rate the shop chooses. Carry small bills.

The highway to Bavaro and Uvero Alto is lit and patrolled, and our drivers work it around the clock. Late arrivals are routine.
Your ride here is operated by a company licensed in the Dominican Republic, working under the eTransfers name, to our standards and at our price. That is how every transfer brand operates outside its home country, and we would rather say it than let you find out at the curb. What you booked does not change: a fixed fare, a tracked flight, an insured vehicle and one place to complain.

Said about us, by name, right outside the exit doors. It is the opening line of a sale, not information. Your booking exists in MyTrip and in your WhatsApp confirmation, and nothing anyone tells you at the door changes it.
Nobody outside our own channels knows whether your driver is on the way. We do, and we tell you. If there were a delay you would hear it from IAN on WhatsApp, not from a stranger who happened to walk up to you.
The most convincing one, because it uses our name and then offers you a solution. We never hand your pickup to somebody who approaches you in the hall, and we never send anyone to tell you to take a taxi instead. The taxi is the whole point of the conversation.
Nobody from eTransfers will approach you inside the terminal. Our driver waits outside, behind the barrier, holding the eTransfers sign. If someone says our name inside the building, keep walking to the meeting point and message IAN.
Timeshare sales. They will offer a free ride, a map or a coupon in exchange for a “90-minute presentation”. Say “no thanks” once, keep walking. Your ride is already paid.
No insurance, prices that change on the highway, no accountability. Only get into the vehicle whose plates we sent you, or an official taxi from the counter inside.
Hall ATMs charge tourist rates. Bank ATMs after customs are fine. If a screen offers to charge you in Canadian dollars, choose the local currency.
Rates 10 to 15 percent worse than a bank. Change a small amount for the first day or use a card.
Porters are fine and expect a small tip. People who grab your cart uninvited expect a large one. Keep your own cart.
Buy an eSIM before you fly or a prepaid SIM at an official carrier desk. Nothing from someone walking the hall.
A vest or a lanyard is not a credential. Our drivers carry a photo ID that matches the name and photo in your WhatsApp.
Tell IAN what happened and where. We report it to the airport authority and it helps the next traveller.
