  • Which ferry line should I pick?

    All three leave from the same terminal and cost about the same. Choose by schedule: Xcaret Xailing starts earliest, at 7:30 a.m., and Winjet has the last boat, at 10:00 p.m.

  • If you land late

    The last boat out of Playa del Carmen leaves at 10:00 p.m. (Winjet). If your flight gets in at night, count the 60 min drive before assuming you will cross the same day.

Where does the Cozumel ferry leave from?
From Playa del Carmen, not Cancun. Xcaret Xailing, Winjet and Ultramar all leave from the same place: the Navega ferry terminal on Calle 1 Sur, next to Parque Los Fundadores in downtown Playa. That is where your driver drops you off.
How long does it take to get from Cancun airport to Cozumel?
It comes in three legs: 60 min by road to the dock, estimated without traffic; the half hour before departure the ferry lines ask you to be there to board; and about 45 minutes on the water, according to Xcaret Xailing. Plan on close to three hours from leaving the airport to stepping onto Cozumel, plus any wait for the next ferry.
How much is the ferry to Cozumel?
Per person, one way, at the tourist fares each line published as of September 2026: Xcaret Xailing, $320 MXN per adult and $240 MXN per child aged 6 to 11 ($640 and $480 MXN round trip); Winjet, $310 to $335 MXN per adult and $240 to $265 MXN per child depending on direction ($645 and $505 MXN round trip); Ultramar, $320 MXN per adult and $240 MXN per child in Premium Plus ($640 and $480 MXN round trip). Leaving Playa del Carmen you also pay an environmental sanitation fee, which the lines list at $23 to $25 MXN. Quintana Roo residents and INAPAM cardholders pay less.
What time does the Cozumel ferry leave?
From Playa del Carmen, as of September 2026: Xcaret Xailing runs every 30 to 60 minutes from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Winjet has 14 departures from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and Ultramar has nine, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Coming back, the first boat leaves Cozumel at 6:30 a.m. (Xcaret Xailing) and the last at 9:00 p.m. (Winjet). Schedules change by season, and the harbor master can halt crossings in bad weather, so check them the day you travel.
If my flight is late, will I miss the ferry?
Not the transfer: your driver tracks the flight and the price stays the same. The ferry does run on a schedule, but there are departures until 10:00 p.m., and an open ticket from Xcaret Xailing or Ultramar is good on any available departure on the route. If you have not bought yours yet, buy it open or at the ticket window at the dock.
Can I bring my suitcases on the ferry?
Yes. Ultramar includes one bag of up to 25 kg (55 lb) per ticket, and Xcaret Xailing has a luggage section on board. If you have several large suitcases, get there early: they are checked before boarding.
How much is the transfer from the airport to the dock?
From $69 per vehicle one way, with taxes, tolls and luggage included. The price is per vehicle, not per person, so a family or group splits it. The ferry ticket is not included: you buy it from the ferry line.
Is the price per person or per vehicle?
Per vehicle. One price covers every seat in it, and child seats are free and do not take up a paid seat. The more of you there are, the less it costs each.
Can I use Uber or a ride app instead?
Ride apps work in the area but cannot pick up inside the airport, and at night there may be nothing available. What you find at the terminal are the authorised taxis. A booked transfer is the only option with the price closed before you land.
Can I cancel?
With the Premium fare, yes: free up to 24 hours before pickup, with no explanation and no fee, and changes are free up to 12 hours before. The Economy fare, the cheapest one, has no free cancellation, but it includes one change if you let us know at least 24 hours ahead.
