Puerto Morelos is the quietest town between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Its main square faces the sea, next to the leaning lighthouse that tilted after Hurricane Beulah in 1967, and just offshore is the reef of Puerto Morelos Reef National Park. Across the highway, the Cenote Route begins.

How to get to Puerto Morelos
Puerto Morelos sits off Highway 307, about 20 minutes south of Cancun Airport, about 35 minutes from the Hotel Zone and about 30 minutes from Playa del Carmen. The town is about 1 mile (2 km) from the highway, toward the sea. ADO buses and colectivo vans between Cancun and Playa del Carmen drop you at the highway junction, where local taxis run into town.
If your tour doesn't include hotel pickup, a private transfer drops you at the meeting point by 10:00 a.m. and picks you up when it ends, with no vehicle change at the junction. For a morning start from Cancun or Playa del Carmen, it is the easiest way.
