Before you land: which Bahia Principe is Coba, and how arrival works
Bahia Principe Explore Coba, formerly Grand Coba, is at km 250 of Highway 307 in Akumal, 25 minutes from Tulum. From Cancun Airport it is 100 km, 1 h 30 min without traffic.
Grand Coba is now Explore Coba
Bahia Principe replaced its Grand, Luxury, Sunlight and Fantasia labels with two: Explore for families and Escape for adults only. If your booking still says Grand Coba, it is the same hotel.
Five hotels, one address
Explore Coba shares the km 250 complex with Explore Akumal, Explore Tulum, Escape Tequila and Escape Sian Ka’an, the last two adults only. All five give the same address, so the hotel name on your booking is what counts. An internal shuttle moves guests around the complex.
The beach is a short walk
Coba is not on the sand: the beach and its Beach Club are 0.5 km from the hotel.
The resort’s transfer
Not included with the room; the resort sells it as an extra through an outside company. Ours is private, priced per vehicle and paid when you book.
Landing early
Rooms open at 3 pm and early check-in carries a charge, but the front desk keeps your bags while you wait. Have your passport and the card you paid with at hand: the hotel asks for both.
Going home
Check-out is at noon. For late check-out, ask the front desk the day before. We confirm your pickup time the day before too.

Which Bahia Principe is Coba?
Explore Coba, formerly Grand Coba, is the family hotel at km 250 in Akumal. Explore Akumal, Explore Tulum, Escape Tequila and Escape Sian Ka’an are in the same complex, but each is a different hotel with its own booking.
Does Bahia Principe include the airport transfer?
Not with the room. The resort sells it as an extra through an outside company. We take you private from Cancun Airport to the hotel, at a fixed price per vehicle.
Does the driver go inside the resort?
Yes. The drop-off is at the main entrance of Bahia Principe Explore Coba, where the bell staff are. There is no extra charge and no walking with luggage.
What if my flight is late?
