For those culture lovers and those who are looking to discover more about history and archaeology, we have prepared a tour that will take you to visit two of the most important archaeological sites in the southeastern part of this wonderful country.
Tulum and Coba, are both Mayan cities that hide great secrets and our guides will help you explore and discover all that these ancient walls can teach us.
From the moment we enter the area, we can see a large crowd of people, a plaza full of handicrafts and handmade souvenirs, blankets, art, paintings, performances, and shows. A place is full of life and activity, a train that takes us to the gates of the archaeological site (not included).
Among the trees wild animals, small monkeys, and multiple birds can be observed,
The archaeological zone of Tulum can be toured in an hour and a half, and information panels in Spanish and English are placed in front of each building.
The ruins of Tulum are one of the best preserved on the Peninsula. Most of the buildings date from the post-classic period of the Mayan civilization, around the years 1200 to 1450, the engravings and paintings that have been found explain that it was a place of worship and veneration of a supposed "Descending God".
Between the Castle and the Temple of the Wind, a small beach has been formed, it is assumed that it was the port where commercial vessels arrived. Today, this beach is closed because it has been transformed into a nesting area for loggerheads and white turtles.
Every year, between the months of June and September, these two species of sea turtles come to this cove to lay their eggs.
Coba is the archaeological site with the highest temple in the Yucatan Peninsula and has the oldest network of stone walkways in the Mayan world.
It also contains stone stelae with inscriptions about important events of this ancient city.
It is believed that the name "Coba" is the original name of this city, which means "choppy water", due to its proximity to lagoons. with seven structures in the area, the Temple of Nohoch Mul represents the tallest pyramid in the whole area.
It is an ecotourism location with a cenote and lodging for nature-loving tourists. Where you can refresh yourself in its crystal clear waters and have a connection with nature and away from all the noise of the cities.
Finally end the tour by walking along the Quinta Avenida of Playa del Carmen, the main street of this city of Quintana Roo. Here you can find traditional handicraft shops, as well as restaurants with typical food while you enjoy the view of the sea and the beach.
If your plans change, you can update the dates at no cost.
