This Mayan city is considered a ceremonial center where its central pyramid is known as "The Castle" or temple of Kukulkan because it is dedicated to the god of the same name. Kukulkan is the central god of the Mayan culture and is equivalent to Quetzalcoatl in the Mexica culture.
