What it is

Where to swim with dolphins in Cancun

Delphinus runs the most habitats in the area. In Cancun it has three: Punta Cancun, inside the Hyatt Ziva hotel (Punta Cancun); the Interactive Aquarium, inside La Isla shopping mall (km 12.5); and Playa Mujeres, inside Dreams Playa Mujeres. In the Riviera Maya it has more in Puerto Morelos, next to Xcaret, inside Xcaret and inside Xel-Há.

Delphinus Punta Cancun is open Monday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is the most central option if you are staying in the Hotel Zone. Booking a swim does not give you access to the hotel: the Hyatt Ziva pool, bar and common areas are off limits.

Programs differ by time in the water and group size: Harmony (20 minutes, up to 10 people), Interax (30 minutes, 6 people), Primax (45 minutes, 4 people, 18 activities), Couple (45 minutes, just two) and Dolphin Trainer (2 hours). Every program starts with a briefing on the platform.

The other option is Dolphin Discovery on Isla Mujeres, part of the same group as Garrafon Park: its ferry leaves at 9:00 a.m. from Playa Langosta (km 5.5) and the crossing takes 30 to 40 minutes, so the swim becomes a day on the island.
