What is Caribbean Sunset?
It is an afternoon boat trip from Cancun to Isla Mujeres, run by Contoy Adventures, a Mexican company founded in Cancun in 2000 that sails from its marina at the Punta Sam ferry terminal.
It is not a snorkeling tour or a full-day trip. The boat crosses the bay and reaches downtown Isla Mujeres around 4:30 pm; you get free time to walk the malecon, the streets and the shops. At 6:15 pm the group moves to Playa Norte to swim and watch the sun go down, and at 7:45 pm it heads back.
Drinks and live music are served on board. The dock and national park wristband fee, 20 USD per person, is not included and is paid in cash at check-in. The operator also offers a private version of the sunset trip.

How to get to Caribbean Sunset
Punta Sam is on the north shore of Cancun, past Puerto Juarez: a 30 to 45 minute drive from the Hotel Zone depending on traffic, and about 1 h 15 min from Playa del Carmen. The operator offers hotel pickup between 3:00 and 4:00 pm.
If you would rather not ride the shared shuttle, a private transfer drops you at the marina and waits for you at 8:00 pm, when the boat comes back after dark.
